Hello!  I am very excited to share my first collection, Chakana, with you!  It’s a personal collection, a labor of love for many years and I’m so happy it found a home with Kelsay Books.  I live in Wilmington, NC with my husband Erik and daughter Zealie. I love the outdoors, traveling, cooking, and spending the summers in full adventure mode with my family in Colorado.   In 1999, I received my BA in English from the University of Notre Dame.  Afterwards, I worked in Pharmaceutical Advertising for several years before deciding to pursue my true passion of writing poetry. In 2014, I received my MFA in poetry from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington (UNCW) and currently, am an Adjunct Professor in the Creative Writing Department at UNCW where I teach Poetry and a course I personally introduced to the department,  Journal Writing.  I've been honored to be a semi-finalist for the James Applewhite Poetry Prize and a finalist for the Poet’s Billow Pangaea Poetry Prize.

Myra has been a semi-finalist for the James Applewhite Poetry Prize and a finalist for the Poet’s Billow Pangaea Poetry Prize.
